The real villian

The real villain of Breaking Bad is cancer.

It's posited that Walter takes on the characteristics of those he has beaten.  In Blood Money, for example, Walt lays a towel down at his knees before vomiting in the toilet, just like Gus did before vomiting out the cartel poison in Salud.

So perhaps Walt's homicidistic ways are simply him taking on the characteristics of cancer, after defeating it.  He kills indiscriminately.  Destroys families blindly.

Of course, cancer is never really defeated.  It always comes back.  Much like drug dealers.  It doesn't matter that Crazy 8 is dead, or Tuco, or Gus, or Mike, or even Walt.  Meth will live on, raging its war on the world.

And for all Walt's bravado, he cannot defeat cancer. Cancer will kill more than meth ever will.  And more than Walt.

And that is why I will always, at some level, root for Walt.  Because cancer sucks and I hope when it comes for me, I go out with a bang.

It's a bad, bad, bad world

As a Breaking Bad addict, there is perhaps nothing so frustrating as having to hold my tongue around the office.  Too many people not caught up.  Too many ways to spoil the show.  And so I sit in silence, hold my tongue, and silently postulate on every scene, every character, every prop.  Every seemingly insignificant damn thing Vince Gilligan and crew decide to throw into every shot.

Well I'm sick of the silence.  So here's my thoughts on all things Breaking Bad.  Spoilers ahead.  Theories.  Who knows what.
